Anxiety is a natural response to danger, an alarm that goes off when we are vulnerable. It’s a good thing we have anxiety because it is a natural defense. Sometimes our automatic responses to anxiety become heightened and we become more intolerant to these feelings. When anxiety persists and you find yourself with constant worry over situations that do not seem reasonable it can start to interfere in your day to day life.
Depression and anxiety sometimes go together. There is often a biological vulnerability and it’s important to address both of these conditions at the same time.
We will explore various parts of your personality and the "protectors" that are likely working very hard to help you manage but you are not aware they are there or why they have become so dominant. I will help you name these parts and work with them in more functional ways. Every person has an authentic self and there are parts of us that have become larger over time that may like to be restructured or - sometimes - just heard.
